Call for application for exchange in 2016/2017 to Malmo University, Sweden, Bangor University, UK and Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. USA

In line with the University’s commitment to enhancing and broadening UM students’ vision and intercultural awareness, the Department currently runs three exchange programmes with overseas universities at the undergraduate/postgraduate level: the Southern Illinois University at Carbondale in the United States, Malmö University in Sweden and Bangor University in the UK.

  1. One semester or one year exchange to Malmo University, Sweden for the academic year 2016/2017

This exchange will be for a one semester or one year stay in Sweden in the academic year 2016/2017. The exchange is open to students in second and third year of undergraduate programme of English Studies, FAH, and postgraduate students of Department of English, FAH, who target the areas of Creative Writing and/or Children’s Literature (although applicants from other areas in the department will also be considered).  If you are interested in applying, please submit the following documents to Department of English Office (E21-4068) by 5 February 2016.

  • Letter of application (stating why you want to go and why you should be chosen)
  • C.V.
  • Academic report (since year 1)
  • Two letters of reference supporting the application

  1. One semester exchange to Bangor University, UK, for the 1st semester of academic year 2016/2017

This exchange is opened to students studying in the undergraduate programme of English Studies, FAH in their 2nd year (the exchange period will be 1st semester of 3rd year) and postgraduate students of Department of English FAH.

Interested candidate should submit the following documents to Office of Department of English in room E21-4068 by 5 February 2016.

  • IELTS certfiicate (optional for application to our Department but will be needed by partner institute after you are selected)

  1. One semester exchange to Southern Illinois University Carbondale, USA, for the academic year 2016/2017

This exchange is opened to students studying in the undergraduate programmes, Communication of FSS and English Studies of FAH in their 2nd year (the exchange period will be: 3rd year – 1st or 2nd semester).

Interested candidate should submit the following documents to Office of Department of English in room E21-4068 (students majoring in English Studies) or Office of Department of Communication in room E21-2041 (students majoring in Communication) by 19 February 2016.

  • For the exchange period on the form, please write either “1st semester 2016/2017” or “2nd semester 2016/2017”
  • Statement of purpose
  • CV
  • Academic record (since year 1)

  • TOEFL/IELTS certificate (optional for application to our Department, but will be needed by partner institute after you are selected)

There will be a face-to-face interview for applicants and may be a written examination. The selection of candidates will be based on GPA, faculty recommendations, and proficiency in English. Detailed schedule and information of the examination and interview will be announced in due course.
