DESCRIPTION:Organizational units: University of Macau (UM)’s Department of Portuguese (DPORT) and the Chinese-Portuguese Bilingual Teaching and Training Centre (CPC)\, with the Department of Portuguese Language of the China Radio International (CRIpor) \nPeriod: Continue to be updated (15 episodes) \nPurpose and objective of the radio talk: The program\, titled “Chinese Ideas”\, will offer a systematic introduction to a group of major thinkers and works which shaped the Chinese intellectual tradition. DESCRIPTION:Dear Students\, \nThe submission deadline for the ELC Tending to Your Mind Video Contest is now extended to 8 December 2020 (Tuesday). This gives you extra weeks to create and send in your videos. \nAll current undergraduate or graduate students are welcome to enter the contest. We encourage interested individuals to use this extension to their advantage. If you have yet to submit a video\, take this opportunity to craft one. Submit your video for a chance to be awarded prizes! \nAs you may know theme of this year’s ELC English Festival is “Tending to Your Mind”. We always seem to be so busy with everything – academic achievement\, career\, wealth\, family\, friends\, and so on. Certainly not everyone can avoid mental health problems—but we can do our best to let those around us be aware of taking care of their emotional health in their lives. \nThe ELC is pleased to launch a video contest “Tending to Your Mind”. To showcase your creativity\, you are invited to make a 2-3 minutes video that is relevant to the overarching theme – mental health. The contest is divided into the following two stages: \n1. Submission: candidates will submit their videos on Moodle (Nov 3 – Dec 8). Please submit your video here: https://ummoodle.um.edu.mo/mod/assign/view.php?id=1890267 \n2. Evaluation: these videos will be judged by a committee made up of tutors and instructors (Dec 9). \nWinners will be announced on Dec 10\, and the prize-awarding ceremony will be held on Dec 16. \nPrizes are given in first\, second\, third\, most liked video\, most shared video\, and most visually stunning video according to voting result and judges’ feedback. Prizes include wireless massager\, air purifier\, electronic toothbrush\, smart watch\, and lunch box warmer – all are products that can improve your overall well-being. \nAll UM students are welcome to participate. DESCRIPTION:講座摘要: \n近代商會組織與其它城市民間社團組織的集體互動、協作效應，導致了某種更複雜的社會自組織過程的發生，形成了所謂“在野市政權力網路”。其實質內涵，是城市行政權力部分由官方下移民間，構成國家權力機關之外的社會權力體系。這一權力體系儘管仍受官方的監督與控馭，但已多少具有相對獨立性和自治權，實際上是一種正在形成中的、職能尚不完善的“地方性民間自治社會”，換言之，也就是與近代早期西方類似的“市民社會”（Civil Society）的雛形。 \n有關近代商會組織與市民社會雛形的描述與認知，對我們理解今天中國的國家與社會關係具有某種提示性意義，並有助於進一步完善現代社會治理體系及其理論。

SUMMARY:DHIST guest lecture: 時勢、觀念與歷史論述——“中國近代史”如何形成
DESCRIPTION:講座摘要: \n關於中國近代史的論述最初是由西人進行的。1830年代，西人中的對華激進派為實現通過武力迫使中國開放的政治目標，進行早期中西關係史的建構。其政治論辯又導向對國際法與自然法、中西文明地位與價值的論述，多種因素導致了西人闡述鴉片戰爭史的方式。與此相聯繫，他們將相關論述延伸到對清代社會形態與中國歷史分期等問題的討論，並以進步史觀為依託，形成對中國歷史走向的認識，對晚清的歷史進行評論與書寫。在19世紀後期到20世紀早期的一系列著作中，上述論點與史觀逐漸沉澱為具有較長遠影響的早期中國近代史體系。
