This year, 250 undergraduate students and 120 postgraduate students joined the family of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities (FAH). To support their new journey at the University of Macau (UM), two orientations were organized for the undergraduate and postgraduate freshmen respectively on 16 and 17 August 2016. During the undergraduate orientation, FAH Dean Hong Gang Jin gave a brief lecture, in which she explained what humanities studies is and how it adjusts to global change and the needs of job market. She also offered some advice and tips for new students. She also reminded them to make good use of the university’s learning opportunities and facilities, and emphasized the classroom expectations as a university student. The annual event ended with programme-specific briefings.
