FAH Students Win Prizes in Macao-wide English Speech Contest

14 Nov 2014

Four FAH students participated in the 13th Macao-wide English Speech Contest & the 20th “21st Century Cup” National English Speaking Competition Macao Regional Contest. QIAN Qiao (Ted) from the MA in Translation Studies programme won the Champion (First Prize) and the Best Manner Award in the Open Category. Cristina Lopes Monteiro from the BA in English studies programme achieved the Most Humorous Speaker Award in the College category. Liu Zhen (Vulcan) and Simone Chan obtained the Merit Award.

The students have dedicated a substantial amount of work to this contest, working closely with their coach Dr WANG Xian (Vincent) of the Department of English and Mr Randall Tran of the English Language Centre. Their achievements reflect very well their in-depth understanding of the theme of the contest, their oratory skills, and the original thoughts they were able to elaborate on the stage. The contest features the most esteemed English-speaking event over the years in Macao; and the winners will compete with the best contestants from top universities in the Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong and Taiwan in the 20th “21st Century Cup” National English Speaking Competition and the “FLTRP Cup” English Public Speaking Contest.
