From 14 Oct to 16 Oct the English Language Centre held the English Festival Fall 2015. The event included various workshops and contests, including a poetry writing workshop, a speech contest and a vocabulary challenge. The organiser hoped to provide an opportunity for students to develop extracurricular talents and improve their English skills. This English Afternoon Tea DIY workshop attracted many students. The Joack-o-lantern Making Workshop is great for those who like to DIY. A student participant stated that these activities allowed them to use English to learn different things and gave them an opportunity to practice speaking English. Joshua Lee, Senior Instructor in English Language Centre, said that if you are motivated and try to live English, try to make an English environment with your friends. “At UM we’re fortunate. We have many activities in English, even My UM is English, so they actually have a great opportunity. The question is if they have the motivation to take that opportunity”, he added.
