The Department of English of FAH successfully held a commemorative talk on “Stuart Hall: The Legacy” on 29 May 2014 at JM08. Professor Andrew Tolson was invited to be the speaker of the event. The talk attracted a full house audience with students and academic staffs.
The aim of this seminar was for commemorating Stuart Hall (1932-2014), who died in February of this year, did more than any other intellectual of the last half of the twentieth century to define and shape the field of Cultural Studies.
The guest speaker Professor Andrew Tolson, from DeMontfort University, UK, has a background in English Language and Literature and Cultural Studies at the University of Birmingham. He is the author of Television Talk Shows and Media Talk, as well as The Limits of Masculinity, an early contribution to gender studies.
