Prof Meifang Zhang and Prof Sio Chio Ieong receive Outstanding Achievement Awards for Macao Research in Humanities and Social Sciences

University of Macau (UM) scholars won ten awards at the Fourth Outstanding Achievement Awards for Macao Research in Humanities and Social Sciences, according to the recipient list released today (14 December). Among them, Prof. Meifang Zhang from the Department of English won the first-class in the paper category award and Prof. Sio Chio Ieong won the second-class award in the monograph category.

This year 56 paper were awarded out of more than 293 submissions from mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan (94 monographs, 199 papers). Prof. Zhang’s award-winning work is “Reading Different Cultures through Cultural Translation: On Translation of Site Names in Macau Historic Centre”, which was published in Babel. 2012, 58 (2):205-218. (Babel is a SSCI & AHCI journal) Prof. Sio’s work is “Macao Dialect-culture Archives”.

The event was co-organised by the Macao Foundation, Guangdong Social Sciences Association, and the Social Sciences in China Press.

由澳門基金會、中國社會科學雜誌社與廣東省社會科學界聯合會合辦的“第四屆澳門人文社會科學研究優秀成果評獎”結果於今(14)日揭曉,澳大師生共奪得10個獎項,其中人文學院英文系張美芳教授憑《從譯文品味中西方文化– 澳門歷史城區景點名稱翻譯評析》獲論文類一等獎,而中文系邵朝陽教授憑《澳門方言文化典藏圖冊》獲著作二等獎。
