UM Alumnus Shares Techniques for Chinese Calligraphy

In a fast developing society with advanced technology, people are used to typing with their computers or smartphones, a UM alumnus, Elvis Mok finds his own hobby of handwriting and devotes himself in the promotion and education of Chinese traditional art.

Elvis Mok, an alumnus from the Department of Chinese Language and Literature, only developed his love for calligraphy after high school graduation when he realized the importance of good handwriting. Throughout his years of study in UM, Elvis had professors from the Chinese Department to instruct him in poem writing and enjoyed a shared interest and encouragement among his fellow students. He believe that UM provides a good environment and that he wouldn’t have enjoyed Chinese art so much without the guidance of his mentor and support of his peer.
