“Memories of Macau: From History to Fiction the Case of Ferreira do Amaral” by Prof. Mário Lugarinho
|1 Dec 2015|
Professor Lugarinho’s seminar aims to discuss the links between History and Fiction (in Macau) by taking into consideration the conference held in May, “Memory and History in the writing of Macau: a Postcolonial Approach”, based on two projects in progress at FAH/DPT (“Memorialist Discourse and the Building of History: The Macanese Case” and “The Literature of Macau in Portuguese: a postcolonial approach”). He will start with a theoretical approach to establish parameter settings for the understanding of (social) memory institution in postmodernity. Then he will examine some Macau representations in literary and film narratives such as those by Joe Tang (2015), Emilio San Bruno (1928), Lia A. Ferreira do Amaral (1943), João Pedro Rodrigues and João Rui Guerra Mata (2012).
