Regulations for Non-Local Students

Minimum age for application : 18 years old

LANGUAGE COURSES

TEACHING LEVELS:

Beginners – Introduction to the Portuguese Language (60 instruction hours, from Monday to Friday, mornings only). This level is only for students who never learned Portuguese.

Basic – Written and oral expression, grammar and conversation (60 instruction hours, from Monday to Friday, mornings only). For students who have achieved A2 level according to the Common European framework for languages (CEFR)

Intermediate – Development of written and oral expression, grammar, conversation and introduction to the culture of Portuguese speaking countries (60 instruction hours, from Monday to Friday, mornings only). For students who have achieved B1 level according to the Common European framework for languages (CEFR)

Advanced – Improvement of written and oral expression, grammar, conversation and culture of Portuguese speaking countries (60 instruction hours, from Monday to Friday, mornings only). For students who have achieved B2 level according to the Common European framework for languages (CEFR)

Superior – Improvement of the written and oral competence for professional and academic purposes (60 instruction hours, from Monday to Friday, mornings only). For students who have achieved C1 level according to the Common European framework for languages (CEFR)

Common European Framework of Reference for Languages

For all levels the course will also include several activities held outside the class schedule.

  

Schedule

. Language Classes and Translation Course:

– from Monday to Friday, from 8:30h to 13.00h

. Activities “Dance, Singing, Creative Writing and Fitness Activities”:

– Tuesday and Thursday from 15:00h to 17:00h

Visits to the Museums:

– Every Wednesday, from 15:00h to 17:00h

Assessment

Course Work – 60%

Final exam – 40%.

Students who successfully complete the program, will be awarded a Certificate.

ATTENDANCE

Students who skip more than 15 hours of class, will not be entitled to receive the Certificate.

 

Accommodation

Students who are not from Macau will be accommodated in the Residential Colleges of the University of Macau.

If there are any students who wish to pay for individual rooms, an application may be considered by paying the respective accommodation fee for individual rooms, subject to Residential Colleges availability.

 

FEES

MOP/HK$6,000.00 (six thousand patacas or HK dollars).

This fee includes lessons, didactic materials, accommodation, laundry, meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) and administrative expenses.

Tuition Fee payment information will be made available at a later date, once application period is over.

 

Cancellation Policy

If a student decides not to attend the course, the enrollment fee will not be reimbursed.

 

COMPLEMENTARY INFORMATION

  1. As soon as we receive all the applications, we will inform candidates accordingly.  In case applications are channeled through sending Universities and a quota restriction is applicable, those universities will decide who are the candidates accepted and will inform us accordingly. Confirmation will be transmitted immediately to the universities, with the acceptance letter for visa application purposes.
  2. We do not offer any financial support for air-tickets or other travelling expenses.
  3. We are not responsible for health care expenses during the course. Student are required to acquire their own travel/health insurance policies.
  4. Students will not be accepted if they arrive after the July 13, 2019. There will be no exceptions to this rule. Candidates, who are unsure of being able to arrive by this date, should not apply.
  5. If for reasons beyond our control (calamities, epidemics, etc.), the Summer Course should need to be cancelled, the University of Macau will not assume responsibility for any resulting damages or expenses (air travel or other) on the part of the candidates.
  6. Candidates admitted to the Summer Course are advised to take out both travel insurance and health insurance policies.
