Running from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM, the event was led by DJP members: Kimura, Lídia, Hu, Ando, Connie, and supported by enthusiastic second-year students. Dressed in traditional Japanese Yukata and Happi coats, the team created an authentic and welcoming atmosphere. The highlight of the booth was the “Guess the Gairaigo!” challenge. This educational game invited participants to listen to Japanese loanwords (Gairaigo), such as “コカ・コーラ” (Coca-Cola) and “オレンジジュース” (Orange Juice), and match them with their English counterparts. The activity provided a fun, hands-on way to explore the linguistic intersection of Japanese and Western cultures. Custom-designed commemorative coasters were awarded to participants, adding to the festive spirit.

Aligning with the University’s 45th Anniversary theme, “Strive Forward and Achieve Beyond, ” the event fostered warm exchanges among students, families, and residents. As UM advances its ‘dual‑campus’ model development strategy, the Department of Japanese remains committed to blending language training with deep cultural understanding, preparing students to become active agents in cross-cultural dialogue and regional development.
