The English Writing and Communication Centre (EWCC) of the English Language Centre (ELC) successfully hosted the Year-End Joy Fest on Wednesday, 6th May 2026 from 18:30 to 20:00. Welcoming approximately 60 students and members of the EWCC community. The event served as a short speech impromptu workshop speech competition. Moreover, to recognize students’ achievements and dedication throughout the academic year.

Firstly, the event started with a Bingo game involving questions related to EWCC. This is to ensure participants talk to each other and build a closer connection throughout the community. This enables a short yet fun way to foster communication between the participants.

The evening featured an awards reception, and interactive activities designed to foster connection and community among participants. A major highlight of the event was the recognition ceremony for students who successfully completed the “EWCC: Road to Happiness” Challenge. Participants received certificates of completion in acknowledgment of their commitment to English learning and personal growth.

To further encourage students’ confidence in public speaking, the event also included an impromptu short speech workshop, followed by a 1-Minute Speech Contest in which 12 students actively participated. The activity created an energetic and supportive atmosphere while allowing students to practice spontaneous speaking and communication skills in English.

In addition, awards were presented to the top performers of the final Speaking Challenge, including prizes for first place, runner-up, second runner-up and third runner-up.
To make the celebration more reflective and interactive, several themed stations were set up around the venue. These included a Memory Jar, where students could share memorable EWCC experiences; a Gratitude Tree, where participants wrote messages of appreciation and encouragement; and a “Draw Yourself” Wall, where students expressed their creativity and reflected on their personal journeys at EWCC. These activities encouraged students to celebrate friendships, achievements, and meaningful moments from the academic year. A photo booth was also available throughout the evening, allowing students and staff to capture memories together and contribute to the warm and festive environment.

Overall, the event concluded the academic year on a positive and memorable note. Reinforcing EWCC’s commitment to supporting students’ language development, confidence-building, and community engagement.
