Aims
The aim of the Master of Fine Arts programme is to cultivate practicing workforce in the art industry with solid theoretical foundation.
Philosophy
Master of Fine Arts is a three-year programme which emphasizes interdisciplinary approach to contemporary art practice, as well as in- depth knowledge in art history and art theory.
Programme Intended Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the programme, graduates will be able to:
- Formulate and implement feasible artistic projects.
- Apply acquired skills, abilities, and theoretical foundations to practical endeavors or literature writing.
- Creative visually cohesive and conceptually unified body of artistic work.

Graduation Requirements
Students are required to pass the required courses, the project report and presentation, and take part in an exhibition to showcase their cohesive body of creative work in order to graduate.

Entry Requirements
The Master of Fine Arts programme follows the general admission rules and requirements of the University with the following additional application requirements:
- Holder of Bachelor of Fine Arts degree is compulsory for applicants for Master of Fine Arts.
- UM’s general English proficiency requirement is TOEFL 550/80, IELTS 6, CET-6 430. Mainland China’s Graduate Entrance Exam score and CET-4 score will also be accepted for reference. English proficiency assessment will be handled by the academic unit depending on the research direction of the applicant. The goal is to uphold the academic standards while having flexibility in admitting students with outstanding portfolio and potential in the area of arts.
- CV is necessary for all applicants, where detailed exhibition record, if any, is highly encouraged.
- After submitting the application via Graduate School's Online Application System, it is required to submit an Art Portfolio which should contain 10 to 20 images of the applicant’s work. All submitted portfolio will be counted as portfolio sheets as long as the work is considered representative of your individual abilities.)
