Welcome to the ECAC!

The English Co-curricular Activities Committee (ECAC) of the English Language Centre (ELC) is composed of a group of ELC Senior Instructors, Visiting Instructors, and talented Student Ambassadors, who organize and host student activities to give UM students opportunities to continue their learning outside the classroom.

The ECAC aims to support the ELC’s mission to empower students to succeed in their studies and in life by engaging them in English, academic, and global skills learning.  Interactive workshops organized by the committee are designed to provide opportunities for students to further improve their English abilities in a fun and informal environment, develop inter-personal and English communication skills, facilitate exposure to cross-disciplinary topics and perspectives for broadening cultural understanding and awareness, and develop self-confidence and motivation to continuously learn and use English as life-long learners and world citizens.

The ECAC hosts a group of talented Student Ambassadors and conducts training  to develop their leadership and management skills, giving them learning experiences in planning, organizing, and handling student academic activities.  The ECAC also facilitates mentorship between incumbent and incoming fresh ambassadors.
