On December 6th, the Japanese Department of the University of Macau invited Prof. Nobuaki Minematsu from the University of Tokyo to host an OJAD (Online Japanese Accent Dictionary) workshop. The workshop aimed to teach the basic theory of Japanese intonation and introduce how to use OJAD for self-training in Japanese pronunciation. The session was conducted entirely in Japanese, and participants brought laptops or tablets to practice.

The event had a lively atmosphere with many faculty members, including Prof. Yang Wenjiang, Head of the Japanese Department, students from the Japanese Department, and Japanese language teachers from Macau. The workshop was hosted by Prof. Li Yuzhe. The two-hour session was divided into two parts: the first focused on basic theory, and the second on practical exercises. Prof. Minematsu explained Japanese phrase intonation clearly and practically from the perspective of both engineering and language education. Participants found the workshop content both rich and useful, with many saying the time passed very quickly. After the session ended, many stayed to discuss further with Prof. Minematsu.

The Japanese Department at the University of Macau is committed to promoting cooperation and exchange in Japanese education with institutions abroad. Moving forward, our department will continue to strengthen its collaboration with the University of Tokyo through joint events and research to advance Japanese education and contribute to the development of the field.
