The Department of Portuguese at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Macau is pleased to announce that student Leong Mong Teng (LUANA) has received an Honorable Mention in the 5th edition of the “World Portuguese Language Day Short Story Contest.” Her short story, titled O nome que carrego, was supervised by Carla Lopes from Department of Portuguese.
Nearly a hundred Portuguese language students from around the world participated in the competition, which was organized by Porto Editora, Camões – Institute for Cooperation and Language, I.P., and the Portuguese National Reading Plan. Students enrolled in Portuguese language education abroad, readership programs, universities, and Camões, I.P. Portuguese Language Centers were challenged to craft a short story based on the theme of “Inclusion.”
In addition to participants from various European countries, students from China, Mexico, and Tunisia also took part in the contest. Their involvement underscores the global reach of the Portuguese language, the creativity of its learners, and the diverse experiences, contexts, and perspectives that enrich the Lusophone world.
The winning stories will be published on the official Porto Editora page dedicated to Portuguese language education abroad, as well as in the Digital Library of Camões, I.P.
