Dear students,
There was a “Note-taking Workshop” held by ELC last Friday, 25 October 2019. Around twenty students participated in the workshop. During the workshop, they were first exposed to the basic idea of note-taking skills, and then together learned about six commonly used symbols in note-taking. After each type was introduced, students got a chance to practice with their partner in English. After all types of symbols were introduced, they were offered opportunities to apply symbols mentioned before in exercises at both sentence level and paragraph level. Students were also offered advice on their notes.
Overall, students actively engaged with the presenter and this workshop received positive feedback. They also expected more similar activities to be held in the future.
