Information about FINO

FINO (Filosofia Nord Ovest) was founded at the University of Turin in 2013 and brings together four universities in North-Western Italy: the University of Genoa, the University of Pavia,  the University of Eastern Piedmont, the University of Turin. The towns of Alessandria, Genoa, Pavia, Turin, and Vercelli are well connected by train. Exchange students may be hosted at one of the four universities, depending on their research interests. FINO’s faculty includes over 80 scholars covering a wide range of philosophical approaches, interests, and topics, all of whom can serve as personal tutors.

  • PhD in Philosophy and Religious Studies, Department of Philosophy

Who can apply for this exchange programme?

  • Full-time postgraduate students enrolled in the PhD in Philosophy and Religious Studies with good academic and disciplinary standing;
  • Demonstrated proficiency in English.

Exchange Programme Costs:

Selected students are expected to pay tuition fees to the University of Macau and meet all the transportation, accommodation, meals and living expenses while they are studying in the host university. Please note that if visas are needed, the selected students have to apply for the visas on their own.

Application Procedures

  • Read carefully the relevant application requirement;
  • Consult your supervisor and advisory committee when selecting your tutor/institution;
  • Apply for the exchange programme (Application period: 28 Aug 2025 to 12 Sep 2025) and complete the application through GAO Application System;
  • Check your email for the assessment arrangement after the application period;
  • Check your email for the nomination result;
  • Apply for the exchange to the host university and receive the acceptance letter;
  • Prepare and submit your learning agreement;
  • Prepare your departure.
