Minor in Chinese Language and Literature
(The minor programme will commence from the 1st semester of academic year 2025/2026 upon approval)

Aims
- To provide students with a foundational understanding of Chinese language and literature, covering both classical and modern Chinese.
- To help students appreciate the richness of Chinese culture by enhancing students’ language skills and introducing them to key literary works and theories.
Features
- Emphasizes the coming together of theory and practice and aims to foster students with an international academic vision. Courses taught include Pre-Qin dynasty Literature, Contemporary Literature, Classical Chinese and Modern Chinese.
- The academic standing of the Chinese Department at UM matches international standards. All of our teaching faculty have been trained professionally and holistically, with abundant teaching experience and also in-depth knowledge of Macao.

Graduation Requirements
In order to graduate with a minor qualification, a student must complete all requirements of the enrolled minor programme, as well as all the requirements of the major programme of study. The results achieved in the minor courses will not be calculated towards the calculation of graduation GPA.
