The 2nd session of the Philosophy Café, organized by the PhD students of the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies, was held last March 29, 2023. For the first time, it was opened to the public through Zoom. Teng Wai Lao gave her talk entitled ‘A Paradox of Reusing Cultural Heritage: A Case Study of the Historic Centre of Macao.’ The talk attracted not just students but also professionals – tourism officers, associate professors, etc. – in the heritage and museum sector outside Macao.
There was a total of 104 participants.
Aside from students at the University of Macau and the Macau University of Science and Technology, the majority of the participants were affiliated in various institutions outside Macao: The Australian National University, Samar State University, Leyte Normal University, The City of Ormoc tourism office, Burauen Community College, Eastern Visayas State University, Southern Leyte State University, and Eastern Visayas Association of Museums.
Most of the students were majoring in different fields: history, arts, design, tourism, technology and livelihood education, hospitality management, social science, math, information technology, English, and values education.
Huang Yufeng moderated a lively discussion in the open forum and closed the event by thanking all who joined.
