On 12 of January, 2025, the Department of Arts and Design of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at the University of Macau hosted a series of inspiring events centered on innovative art at the Black Box Theatre (E21A-G036) and the Exhibition Hall of the Cultural Building (E34-G016). These events provided visitors with a rare opportunity to engage with and appreciate art and culture.
Among the highlights was the creative workshop “Creative Imprints,” which encouraged participants to unleash their creativity by using natural materials such as leaves and branches from the UM campus, along with paints and brushes, for expressive “doodling.” Immersed in an artistic atmosphere, participants left behind unique artistic imprints, showcasing both nature-inspired paintings and spontaneously generated imagery.
Simultaneously, the exhibition “Zhang Yan’s Ink Painting Works Exhibition: Ink Painting Along Maritime Silk Road — From Macao, China To Chao Phraya River, Thailand” featured exquisite works by Professor Zhang Yan. Through his masterful ink paintings, the exhibition depicted cultural and natural landscapes along the route from Macao to Thailand’s Chao Phraya River, inviting attendees to experience the profound allure of ink art.
The events aimed to showcase the fruitful outcomes of creative education through diverse artistic forms, while advocating for art as a medium for profound dialogue between humanity and nature. The lively atmosphere attracted numerous visitors, reflecting the University of Macau’s prominent role in promoting art and cultural exchange.
The Department of Arts and Design remains committed to fostering artistic and cultural exchanges through innovative activities. Looking ahead, it hopes to engage more community members and enthusiasts to explore the boundless possibilities of creativity.
