The exhibition companion book An Addendum with Fourteen Rejoinders ( A Tree of Knowledge: Creation Based on Greatness — Faculty Exhibition of the Department of Arts and Design, Faculty of Arts and Humanities, University of Macau”) was successfully launched in the lobby of the Cultural Building (E34) at the University of Macau.
At the launch event, Professor Li Jun, Head of the Department of Arts and Design at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Macau, provided an overview of the book’s content. He pointed out that the book uses the “tree of knowledge” as its central imagery, with the trunk and branches symbolizing the East and the West, the ancient and the modern, and creation and research, respectively. These six elements also represent the six “root systems” in building the Department of Arts and Design at the University of Macau. They intertwine and collectively nurture a lush tree of knowledge. Hanging from the branches are portraits of the department’s fourteen faculty members, with more scholars, artists, and designers continuously joining and contributing. Centered around the “Six Theses on Contemporary Art Creation and Research,” the book invites fourteen professors to provide fourteen responses from their respective perspectives, offering readers inspiring paths of thought and creating a dialogue window for students to get to know the faculty.
Presided over by Professor Li Jun, Professor Zhang Jian and Professor Li Defeng from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Macau, along with Ms. Liu Aping, President of Arts & Culture Magazine, jointly held the unveiling ceremony for the book. This marked the official release of An Addendum with Fourteen Rejoinders to the public. The book launch not only showcased the fruitful teaching and creative achievements of the Department of Arts and Design but also added a rich blend of academic and artistic vibrancy to the University of Macau campus.
