Exchange Programmes

Last updated on 30 Aug 2018

In line with the University’s commitment to enhancing and broadening UM students’ vision and intercultural awareness, the Department currently runs three exchange programmes with overseas universities: the Southern Illinois University at Carbondale in the United States, Malmö University in Sweden and Bangor University in the UK.

Southern Illinois University at Carbondale Exchange Programme

Each year, the English Department sends up to three students to the Southern Illinois University (SIU) Exchange Programme for a one-semester period of full-time study. Credits earned at SIU are transferrable. Applications for this highly competitive but rewarding programme are usually accepted in January or February. The selection procedure includes a comprehensive test and interview and a review of general academic performance. Students who have been to SIU have consistently reported a very satisfactory experience.

Bangor University Exchange Programme

The Bangor University Exchange Programme starts from 2014/2015 and is open to both undergraduate and postgraduate students. This programme is popular among students in the English Department and application is usually called in January or February.
