Dear Students,

The submission deadline for the ELC Tending to Your Mind Video Contest is now extended to 8 December 2020 (Tuesday). This gives you extra weeks to create and send in your videos.

All current undergraduate or graduate students are welcome to enter the contest. We encourage interested individuals to use this extension to their advantage. If you have yet to submit a video, take this opportunity to craft one. Submit your video for a chance to be awarded prizes!

As you may know theme of this year’s ELC English Festival is “Tending to Your Mind”. We always seem to be so busy with everything – academic achievement, career, wealth, family, friends, and so on. Certainly not everyone can avoid mental health problems—but we can do our best to let those around us be aware of taking care of their emotional health in their lives.

The ELC is pleased to launch a video contest “Tending to Your Mind”. To showcase your creativity, you are invited to make a 2-3 minutes video that is relevant to the overarching theme – mental health. The contest is divided into the following two stages:

1. Submission: candidates will submit their videos on Moodle (Nov 3 – Dec 8). Please submit your video here: https://ummoodle.um.edu.mo/mod/assign/view.php?id=1890267

2. Evaluation: these videos will be judged by a committee made up of tutors and instructors (Dec 9).

Winners will be announced on Dec 10, and the prize-awarding ceremony will be held on Dec 16.

Prizes are given in first, second, third, most liked video, most shared video, and most visually stunning video according to voting result and judges’ feedback. Prizes include wireless massager, air purifier, electronic toothbrush, smart watch, and lunch box warmer – all are products that can improve your overall well-being.

All UM students are welcome to participate. Please note that collaborative (pairs/groups) videos are NOT accepted.

We encourage you to reflect on your mental health while making this video. All videos must be submitted on/before 8 December (Tuesday), much appreciated! We look forward to receiving all the great content.

Best regards,
