After the outbreak of the May Fourth Movement, the American media carried out continuous reports, providing a Western perspective on understanding the movement and important historical records of the US attitude towards the May Fourth Movement at that time. These reports not only revealed the process of this movement in detail but also, particularly important, they foresaw China ushering in a new era. As the American media and Americans in China clearly expressed their support for China on the Shandong issue, Japan began to spread rumors that the movement was directed by the United States behind the scenes, trying to transfer the responsibility for the anger of the Chinese people caused by its aggressive actions to the Americans.
