UM holds an academic seminar on archiving historical sources for Macao literature

The University of Macau (UM) Centre for Chinese History and Culture (CCHC) and Flower City Publishing House recently jointly held an academic seminar on archiving historical sources for Macao literature. The event attracted nearly 30 scholars from various universities, including Soongsil University in South Korea, Nanjing University, and Xiamen University.

Xu Jie gave a speech

 At the opening ceremony, Xu Jie, interim dean of UM’s Faculty of Arts and Humanities, stressed the necessity and importance of archiving historical sources for Macao literature. Cheng Shiqing, editor-in-chief of Flower City Publishing House, described the seminar as ‘timely’ because it is meaningful to discuss new ideas and perspectives on the year that that marks the 20th anniversary of the Macao SAR.

At the closing ceremony, Zhu Shoutong, interim director of the CCHC, summarised the discussions at the seminar. He thanked the participating scholars for discussing Macao literature from different perspectives and expressed hope that the scholars would continue to explore historical sources for Macao literature.
