Prof. Ronald Fong was invited to give training on English reading and the teaching of it to English teachers at Escola Lin Fong Pou Chai on 2nd November 2022. Prof. Fong first described the current linguistic approaches to language and language learning, and then dealt with the different aspects of reading and how reading skills could be taught to pupils of various levels. Reading comprehension requires several skills and uses of different areas of language and our mental processes, according to Prof. Fong, and teachers should be aware of them and make use of the appropriate material. Prof. Fong also examined some parts of the textbooks the school used and suggested methods of improvement. There were active participation and discussion between Prof. Fong and the teachers.
