The “Intersections and Interactions: The 4th Cross-Strait Inter-Institutional Chinese Studies Postgraduate Students Research Camp” was held in School of Chinese of the University of Hong Kong (HKU) from 2 to 5 July 2024. Faculty and students from the University of Hong Kong, Peking University, Taiwan University and University of Macau participated in the Research Camp in the purpose of academic research exchange and discussion in Chinese studies.
The Research Camp was hosted by the School of Chinese of the University of Hong Kong. Faculty and students from four higher education institutions were invited. It was held again after four years with the theme of “Intersections and Interactions” at Run Run Shaw Tower of Centennial Campus. The UM team was led by Professor Liu Hongyong and Professor Zhang Yue with six postgraduate students, Yao Yan, Xie Wanyi, Zhong Hong, Pan Yaoyao, Wang Han and Gao Xiang.
The four-day Research Camp was divided into eight sessions. Representatives from each university gave speeches on the theme and presented papers. Topics covered Premodern Literature, History, and Philosophy (in order of dynasties), Linguistic, Locality and gender.
The Research Camp succeeded in demonstrating the theme “Intersections and Interactions” while it also provided a platform for faculty and students from different regions and research fields to conduct in-depth academic exchanges, as well as fruitful exchanges of ideas and inspirations.
