UM holds groundbreaking ceremony for ‘Suao Pavilion’

Guests officiate at the groundbreaking ceremony for ‘Suao Pavilion’

To promote outstanding traditional Chinese culture and strengthen the cultural connections between Jiangsu province, particularly Suzhou, and Macao, including the University of Macau (UM), the Suzhou Overseas Friendship Association and the Jiangsu Overseas Friendship Association have donated to UM for the construction of ‘Suao Pavilion’ and the groundbreaking ceremony for the pavilion was recently held on the campus. Yonghua Song, rector of UM, says that the pavilion symbolises not only the friendship between Jiangsu province and Macao, but also the channel for cultural exchange between young adults in the two places. Wang Yang, president of the Suzhou Overseas Friendship Association, expresses hope that the pavilion will remind UM faculty and students of the friendship between people in Suzhou and Macao and will help to promote exchanges in various areas.
