Prof. XU received her PhD degree from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Before joining UM, she worked in CUHK for a few years. Prof. XU’s research interests lie primarily in Chinese dialectology, Chinese phonology, historical linguistics and contact linguistics. The results of her findings appear in journals including Studies of the Chinese Language (中國語文), Language and Linguistics, Journal of Chinese Studies, etc. And Prof. XU’s has published two monographs . She is also the Principal Investigator of many academic projects. Now Prof. XU focuses on the synchronic and diachronic research of Chinese dialects around the west Pacific Ocean.
