Dear Student,

You are invited to join the first workshop of this year “American Ways” by the English Co-Curricular Activities Committee of the English Language Centre (ECAC-ELC).

• Understand the basic concepts of intercultural communication.
• Understand the basic American cultural values.
• Learn some do’s and don’ts on American culture.
• Learn how to interact and communicate with westerners in general and Americans in particular, to minimize cultural shock.
• Meet new friends and learn together some best practices when visiting the US.

This workshop is hosted by ELC Instructor, Mr. Ricky Ribeiro.  It intends to help students familiarize themselves with specific social norms and behaviors displayed by Americans.  Through this workshop, students will gain an overall and better understanding of Western cultural customs and traditions, learn how to handle intercultural communication, and feel comfortable when interacting with westerners in general.
