The Council of Europe LIAM project: aims and concrete resources

In my talk, I will address the role of the Council of Europe, the European continent’s leading human rights organization, particularly focusing the attention on its endeavour of supporting the linguistic integration of adult migrants (LIAM).

Respecting learners’ identity, their linguistic and cultural diversity, their particular personal circumstances and their varying educational biographies, is key to achieve the goals provided by the actions undertaken for LIAM.

I will give concrete examples of such actions, highlighting resources in place, as well as suggestions for stakeholders. More in details, I will present two tools developed by the Council of Europe and aimed to address the most vulnerable learners, represented in the first case by refugees and in the second case by migrants with low literacy profiles.
