A1 Level Portuguese Program for Legal Professionals
A1 level Portuguese Program for Legal Professionals Organizational units: Portuguese Institute of the Orient (IPOR) & Chinese Portuguese Bilingual Teaching and Training Centre (CPC) Period: October 29th to December 5th 2019 (30 hours) Schedule: Every Mondays and Wednesdays, from 6.30pm to 9.00pm at IPOR Registration: IPOR reception counter (10:00-18:30) Seats limited to 20, on a first-come-first-served basis. FAH-CPC: Portuguese Culture Course
Course Outline: The course consists of a total of 8 sessions of 2 hours each, and aims to provide an introduction to the essentials of Portuguese as a variety of cultural domains, material and immaterial. At the end of the course, the audience is expected to be better prepared to understand the cultural references driving Portuguese presence in Macao and the world. Topics: Class 1. FAH-DPORT: Workshop by Professor Igor da Silva on “Approaching Translation and related Tasks as Processes” from November 12 to 13, 2019
ABSTRACT Discussion of the expertise framework and its potential to tap into translation and interpreting, especially from an expert-performance approach. The major topics include: expertise as the result of deliberate practice; the non-transference of expertise across domains; the role of translation in translator’s expertise per se and in comparison to field specialist’s expertise; the implications of studies of expertise in writing and reading to studies of translation expertise; and the implication of the notion of interactional expertise to the study of translation expertise and interpreting expertise. Also, the seminar analyze the translation and related tasks (including reading, writing, and post-editing) as processes that involve automatisms and also require cognitive effort to solve problems. FAH-DPORT: Seminar on “The musical theatre in Brazil” by Prof. Larissa Oliveira Neves Catalão, Universidade Estadual de Campinas
ABSTRACT: The musical theatre in Brazil Brazilian theatre is as ambiguous as its own audience history and culture. However during many years, popular theatre was considered inferior when compared to European art forms. Despite that, in the end of the 19th century, popular theatre left the streets and moved to theatre houses. This fact changed the way the plays were produced, leading to new forms of writing, acting and stageset building, which led to the emergence of modern Brazilian theatre in the 1940’s. Based on the most influential Brazilian play texts, this lecture intends to present and analyze the history of Brazil’s musical theatre.
