A post-activity write-up is very important to record the events that took place in a certain activity.  But how can we prepare an effective write-up?  The answer to this question was given by the ECAC.  In order to help the student ambassadors (SA) hone their skills in writing a report, Mr Alan Chan, ELC Instructor, conducted a workshop on “How to Prepare a Post-Activity Report” on 28 September 2022.

In the workshop, student ambassadors from last semester shared their experiences, especially when they were assigned to do a write-up.  They encouraged this semester’s ambassadors to step forward and volunteer to do the write-ups this time.  They also offered help should it be needed.  After that, students discussed the benefits of writing a post-activity report, how their writing skills will be improved, and the experience that they will gain from taking part in the activities.  They were then introduced to the different parts of a post-activity report.  In groups, students had to arrange a sample write-up in the correct order and present their work.  They were also asked to complete the missing parts of a write-up.  This exercise exposed students to the challenges of putting together a comprehensive report, at the same time, gave them a deeper understanding of the structure of a write-up.  The whole workshop was interactive, and the ambassadors enjoyed the positively competitive tasks and were proud of their results.
