Huang Zhaowen, third-year student majoring in Japanese Studies won the Special Prize at the 43rd Japanese Speech Contest held in Hong Kong on 24 November 2018. Huang’s speech was on what had triggered her to study Japanese language. She was attracted by the charm of the profession of Japanese Voice Actor who would present to audience with their own experiences and perspectives.

Huang was supervised by Senior Instructor Ms. Kumiko Kimura. Her preparation for the manuscript started before the summer break, and she had been working hard for revising and practicing since.

It was a very meaningful experience for our students to participate the Speech Contest in Hong Kong. This would certainly improve their Japanese language skills and interact with other Japanese learners in other places.
