UM holds international symposium on pre-Tang literature

The Department of Chinese Language and Literature of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at the University of Macau (UM) has recently held a two-day international symposium on pre-Tang literature and culture. Scholars from well-known institutions, including the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Peking University, Chinese University of Hong Kong, Fudan University, Renmin University of China, the City University of New York, and UM, participated in the symposium and conducted in-depth discussions on the literature and culture of pre-Tang era via video conferencing.

Officiating guests at the opening ceremony included Prof Xu Jie, interim dean of the FAH and head of the Department of Chinese Language and Literature at UM; Prof Xu Jianwei, associate dean of the School of Liberal Arts at Renmin University of China; and Prof Tang Chon Chit, in the Department of Chinese Language and Literature at UM. The three scholars shared the development of the disciplines in classical Chinese literature at UM, the status quo of the study of pre-Tang literature, and the preparations for the conference.
